Kirk Rueter, former San Francisco Giants pitcher has again been named Honorary Chairman of St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament. Rueter, a native of Hoyleton, Illinois, played for the Montreal Expos and the San Francisco Giants as a starting pitcher for 12 seasons, having retired in 2005.
“We are excited that Kirk will again serve as Honorary Chair of this event, and appreciate his active participation on the steering committee. We are honored that he has chosen to remain onboard to help make the upcoming 4th Annual St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament a success,” states Scott Niermann, Foundation Director.
Rueter states, “St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia is a special place to me, and I am happy to assist with the Foundation’s fund development activities. Past years’ funds have been used to support a complete remodel of the second floor – the Intensive Care Unit and Telemetry Department – as well as updated high tech equipment and other upgrades.”
The four-person scramble will be held on Friday, September 19 at Greenview Golf Course in Centralia with all proceeds from the tournament to benefit the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation. Rain date will be September 20. Registration begins in June, however sponsorship renewals are being sought beginning this week. Opportunities remain for new businesses and individuals to get involved in this outstanding annual event.
St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation’s fundraising efforts for capital projects, equipment and services will aid in the hospital’s ability to maintain state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and to provide educational opportunities for the families and patients that the hospital serves.
