 Be A Volunteer

Who can volunteer?
If you have time to share and enjoy helping others, then volunteering is for you! St. Marys Good Samaritans Volunteer Program welcomes men and women of all ages.  Volunteers are male, female, retired, employed, local residents, or individuals from surrounding communities.  These uncommon people have one common purposethey are dedicated to helping others.  They all share important qualities:  they are caring, compassionate and dedicated to our Mission of .continuing the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Volunteers need no special training to get involved.  Volunteers are interviewed and we strive to ensure that each volunteer is placed in an appropriate volunteer position, based on the individuals interests, skills and needs of the hospital.  Most volunteers donate one time slot per week of approximately four hours, however, additional hours are always welcome.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

You wont receive a paycheck.  But what you will get from your volunteer experience is far more valuable.  Youll meet new people, make new friends and have exciting experiences.  And, at the end of the day, youll get the biggest reward of all knowing that you helped someone who needs you.

Our Volunteers receive discounts on their meals in the hospital cafeteria, free flu shots and various other benefits.  Most of all, volunteers receive the satisfaction that comes from being needed and doing something worthwhile that helps others.

What services do volunteers provide?

Volunteers are a vital part of our health care team.  Each year they donate thousands of hours to the hospital to provide services that will benefit our patients and help make their stay more comfortable.  We need your help not only to continue our current activities, but also to extend services to meet the changing needs of our new healthcare environment.  Volunteer opportunities are available during daytime, evening and weekend hours.

Our Auxiliaries generate funds through our Gift Shops, Gift Cart and Bargain Box thrift shop, as well as through various fund raising projects throughout the year.  The funds raised assist the Auxiliaries in their purchase of needed equipment for the hospitals and provide educational scholarships for young people going into health care professions.

We welcome you and your wonderful gift of time and energy.  If you would like to join our Auxiliary, complete this privacy-secured on-line application -- or call us toll-free for more information:  1-877-241-5596.
(The Centralia Campus does not currently have volunteer opportunities for teen volunteers.)
